Game 2 Rundown

Hey Shrimps,

Another solid effort out there this game against DC Internationale! We didn't send them downtown to chinatown, but we gave them directions.

Despite our lopsided score, I think we really stepped it up this week in terms of playing together and looking like we knew what we were doing. I think our best efforts came in the first half, behind GREAT defense from Nancy, Pierre and the unstoppable Fang!

Notable performances included Maureen, who broke up at least three plays that would have been sure one-on-ones with our keeper, physical tenacity from Ian, Lisa and Jenn who took (and dealt) some bruises, great breakaways from Rob, Akira, Alexandria and Sandhya as well as some good ball distribution from Aly.

Tom, in his first goalie performance this season, faced down a fearsome attack with aplomb and Caitlin had a solid utility performance. And thanks to Atul and Jason for the backup! All in all - a good step up from last week!

We're going to try something new next week with more fixed positions -- it should help with subbing and cut down on some confusion, so let's try to get commitments from people for next week ASAP. (Which is why we're putting out this entry on Saturday). So try to let us know by Wednesday. Post in the comments.

One more thing: We've been putting off another T-shirt order 'till people have paid, but I'd like to do it ASAP. We'll get shirts for everyone who's without, and some people mentioned that they wanted more, so please post below and let me know size, quantity, by Monday or Tuesday at the latest. They're around 15 bucks for the extras and, obviously, they are the coolest shirts on planet Earth.

Game 2

Alright, Shrimps.

Game two is tomorrow at 12:30, same place. For those who couldn't make it last week, the games are held at the Polo Grounds, right across from the Tidal Basin. Parking is not easy down there, so please plan accordingly. Biking was a good option, as was the metro commute (I hear) so if one of those are possible for you, you might want to try that or carpooling.

Let's take DC Internazionale downtown to chinatown. (i.e. score a goal or two). See you out there at 11:45 and we can go over some throw-ins and rules and stuff with Fang and Jenn and Nancy. As usual, please post if you can make it so we have some idea about a lineup.

Gooooooo Shrimps!

Peeled Shrimps

Hello all...

Well it was a moral victory (but, alas, not an actual victory) against the Maple Street Marauders in our season opener yesterday. 1-5

Despite getting shocked 3-0 in the first two minutes, the Shrimps made some adjustments, battled back, and played about 3/4ths of the game even with the Marauders. All this while having a substantial part of our lineup out, and with help from subs, friends and significant others.

Thanks to all who showed up, and let's battle back next week.
