Mission Accomplished!
OUR FIRST PRACTICE: Well done guys! I'm glad we all got out there to see what would happen and I think what happened was great. We got to meet some folks and get a feel for what were were in for. Thanks to you all for helping out with the practice: Nancy for going over basic player positions, Caitlin for leading warm-ups and cool-downs, Patricia for blowing the whistle, Tom and Alexandra for bringing the extra gear and water...and everyone for trying as hard as they did out there considering no one knew what to expect.
As time goes on we'll throw some more rules in there and get you used to different aspects of the game. For the first day out we did perfect.
THE FUTURE:
Looks like most of you were into the idea of practicing two days a week. Something on Wed or Thursday at Key Elementary, then Saturday as well, hopefully on a veritable soccer field which we have a couple of leads on. The idea is that we use the time to get in shape, have fun, and get comfortable enough to enter a beginner's league in the fall.
GEAR: Lets all have our own balls (size 5) by next practice (check back here for exact date, location and time) and some research will be done on the cost of other equipment, cones, pennies (sp?) etc. Cleats are a good idea as well as shin guards. They'll be mandatory once we get into league play.
In sum, thanks for making it fun and worthwhile out there today. I can't wait to see how we shape up!
